Lytle Park is home to a local USTA (United States Tennis Association) Organization that hosts lessons, workshops and tournaments. Our tennis courts are also used by the Mattoon Recreation Association during the summer for free youth lessons, the Mattoon Area Family YMCA for evening adult league play, and by Mattoon High School tennis for match and tournament events.
We also host Our Annual Triathlon each summer, as well as support other running events that make use of our site.
Other spaces in the park are used for youth soccer practice, along with youth baseball, t-ball and softball practice.
Scheduled athletic events will appear in our calendar and found on our Facebook page.
Because our intent is to keep the pool fully accessible to the entire general public every day of the summer, special events at the pool are rare. When those special events arise they will appear in our Calendar and posted to our Facebook page.
Co-sponsored by the Mattoon Public Library, Lytle Park and the Mattoon Arts Council, the Movies in the Park program offers free movies every Friday evening during the summer at Lytle Park. Movies begin at dusk, seating in the large field just east of the large tennis courts. Bring your own blankets, lawn chairs and refreshments. We expect everyone to be respectful and considerate of all attendees.
Special and area events will be posted on our calendar and our Facebook page. We will do our best to help promote opportunities related to nature, fitness, youth, and sustainable practices and of course Lytle Park. If you have an event you would like us to share, please contact us.
